Prize criteria by sponsor:

Adobe – A copy of Adobe CS 5.5 to the best 2 apps leveraging Adobe toolsets – $1899 value.

AOL – Design books to the top two designs of the day.

App47 – $250 for the best app as voted on by all teams.

Blackberry – Playbook awarded to best app ported to the Blackberry platform.

Disruptathon – IPEVO Point2View USB Camera awarded to the most disruptive app idea of the day.

Mashery – JamBox awarded to the best app using a Mashery powered API.

Microsoft – 1st 15 to register in Marketplace $100 gift card + raffle of Mango phone to submitters of XAP file of final project. All submitters – free marketing!

Millennial Media – $500 Amex gift card to the best app that utilizes the mmDev mobile advertising network.

O’Reilly Media – MacBook Air 11” to the best app of the day as determined by all participants.

SendGrid – Amazon Kindle Fire tablet to the best app that leverages the SendGrid API.

Socialize – $500 to the best app utilizing the Socialize SDK.

USA TODAY – $500 to the best app utilizing the USA TODAY APIs.

x.Commerce/Paypal – $250 BestBuy gift card for the best app using the Paypal x.Commerce platform.

MoDevHack takes place Saturday, December 3, 2011, from 9am-6pm at the Gannett / USA TODAY Conference Center. The event will draw in excess of 150 mobile developers, designers and architects of all levels to create new apps leveraging several cutting edge APIs. Prizes will be awarded in several categories and spot prizes will be granted at the discretion of API providers. Hackers can bring a team, create a team on-site or go solo. Registration for the hackathon is free for hackers and readily accessible for those with an API.

Event schedule:

9am – checkin & API demos

10am – hacking begins

noon – lunch

4pm – beer thirty & snacks – sponsored by Millennial Media

6pm – stop hacking, presentations

7:30pm – awards

8pm adjourn

Hackathon rules:

1) Hackers must be onsite (unless prior approval received by organizer for virtual participation)
2) Hacks must be built during the hours of the event
3) No PowerPoint or Keynote
4) Hacks must be built with one or more of the participating APIs listed to be eligible for respective prizes
